Buxton Adventure Festival

We’ve been asked to help publicize this forthcoming event in Buxton.

On 15th May, adventurer Dave Cornthwaite is headlining the LowePro Buxton Adventure Festival.

Dave is best known for his Expedition1000 — a mission to complete 25 1000+ mile non-motorised journeys, with the latest being a 1500 mile slog along the tortuous coast of Norway on a Schiller Bike.

Our support speaker is Kajsa Tylen, who completed over 32k miles on a bicycle in 365 days, breaking the previous, 80-year old record.

Janice’s Soup Kitchen Ride

Janice Bennett (pink top, centre of photo) organised her annual charity ride, ably assisted by Phil (in front of fridge), taking in a number of scenic (read hilly!) lanes around Chapel-en-le-Frith, Chinley and New Mills. Suitably hungry, we then repaired to Janice’s house for her usual array of delicious home-made soups and cakes. A great day out and sincere thanks to Janice and Phil.

Janice sends her thanks to all those who supported this event. The total raised was £225, which will be divided equally between Blyth House Hospice (in Chapel-en-le-Frith), and East Cheshire Hospice (in Macclesfield).

(Clare Ridgway kindly took the photo — she was there too, and cycled all the hills!)

Bike stolen in Buxton

Here’s a post about a bike stolen in Buxton.

Hello Roger

I am contacting all the cycling clubs around Manchester to see if I can track down my bike that was stolen in Buxton on Sunday 8th April and was for sale on Facebook Marketplace that evening advertised by a 14 year old scally in Stockport. It’s a MEKK POTENZA 3.0 which is uncommon enough that I’ve never seen another one.  Picture below.  I know this is mine because the saddle slipped on the ride that morning — and of course there are several other features that I can see in the photo.

Would be really grateful if this could be circulated and anyone that finds it could let me know. There is currently one on eBay that I know about and isn’t mine (has black bar tape.)

Many thanks
