About us

Local, one-day rides and longer cycle tours

South Manchester Cyclists Touring Club (SMCTC) is a friendly cycling club catering for riders in Manchester, Stockport, East Cheshire and parts of Derbyshire. We are a member group of Cycling UK, the nation’s leading cycling charity. We organise regular  rides, mostly into Cheshire and Derbyshire but occasionally into West Yorkshire, Staffordshire and further afield. Rides usually start from Cheadle or Hazel Grove, occasionally from other locations. We are not a racing club. Our aim is to enjoy cycling through great countryside.

Several times a year, trips are organised to explore other areas by bike, plus longer trips abroad. Group members also join CTC tours abroad. In addition to cycling, club members meet socially each Thursday evening at Cheadle Village Hall, followed by a drink in the pub. Occasionally, slide shows are given, often of members’ tours at home or abroad.
